Metal Building Insulation

Metal building insulation stabilizes the structure’s interior temperature and preventing moisture from entering or collecting via condensation.

Insulation helps maintain a comfortable interior temperature by keeping warm air in your building during the winter and conversely by keeping warm air out during the summer months. More importantly, steel building insulation creates a barrier throughout the roof and walls of your building, which prevents condensation.

Warehouse Insulation

Improve the performance of your commercial building's HVAC system.

Proper insulation will limit noise pollution (and unhappy neighbors). Insulation also has the ability to absorb interior sounds that reverberate through the building. Which is especially helpful if you have loud machinery running all day.

Another advantage of insulating a warehouse is that it prevents unwanted critters from entering the property. Insulation has proven to be a major deterrent to rodents and birds. By protecting every crevice of your building you leave little ability for wildlife to encroach.

FAQs About Commercial Insulations

Proper insulation lets you save more and makes better use of the energy and heat in your house.
1
How much will I save by insulating my building?

Insulation saves money, increases home comfort, and protects the environment by reducing energy use. According to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the typical U.S. family spends close to $1,500 each year on energy bills. DOE statistics show that, typically, 44% of a homeowner’s utility bill goes for heating and cooling costs. DOE states that homeowners may be able to reduce their energy bills from 10% to 50% by taking certain steps. One of the major steps is increasing the amount of thermal insulation in their existing homes or purchasing additional insulation when buying new homes.

2
What is R-value?

R-value measures insulation’s resistance to heat flow. It can also be referred to as “thermal resistance.” The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power. All materials having the same R-value, regardless of type, thickness, or weight, are equal in insulating power. The R-value of different insulating materials must be based on test methods established by the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM). Don’t forget that R-values are determined by material type, thickness, and installed weight per square foot, not by thickness alone. Insulation helps keep your home cool during the summer months and warm during the winter months.

3
Why hire a professional insulation contractor rather than other general contractors?

Proper installation is essential for insulation to perform properly. Knowledge of vapor retarders, air infiltration, ventilation, recessed lighting, and water pipes are just a few of the areas critical to installation techniques. Professional insulation contractors have access to a wide variety of training, are familiar with local codes and regulations, and can offer guidance about the type and amount of insulation to be used.

4
Is insulation effective at sound-proofing?

Yes. Insulation is an efficient way to reduce unwanted sound, and it is commonly used to provide a more comfortable and quieter interior environment. Insulation effectively reduces noise transmission through floors and through interior and exterior walls. A professional insulation contractor can help you select the proper insulation for your needs.

5
Spray foam insulation vs fiberglass insulation, which is better?

Fiberglass – This type of insulation traps air bubbles and creates an insulation effect that escalates, slowing heat exchange between surfaces.

Spray Foam – This is a polymer that expands to nearly 100 times its original volume, and then hardens into a solid. This allows for much more coverage and is more of an automated process than fiberglass.

Commercial Building Insulation

Many commercial buildings have complex, difficult areas that need to be insulated. Since spray foam insulation is a custom fit for every cavity it is sprayed in, it is a natural choice for these projects.

The building code defines residential construction as one, two or three family dwellings. Broadly speaking everything else is commercial. While the two codes have different requirements for insulation, the principles are exactly the same: a building must be properly air sealed and insulated to be economical to operate and comfortable to occupy. High insulation values mean little if outside air bypasses the insulation. This is true no matter what construction method is used.

Commercial buildings and spaces present different challenges from residential buildings. Brazos Valley Insulators have experience in a wide range of commercial insulation installation. From restaurants and hospitals to office buildings and shopping malls, we can provide the best insulation solutions.
